Safari Dreams

When a young couple from the US—both passionate about safari and the beauty of the
African bush—came to stay, we saw an opportunity to transform their guest bedroom into something truly special. The brief was simple: create a space that echoed their love for nature, adventure, and understated luxury. Inspired by the Wild
The design began with a vision to capture the essence of safari without becoming overly themed. We wanted it to feel fresh and contemporary, with subtle nods to the textures, tones, and spirit of the wild.
We chose a neutral palette as the foundation, allowing earthy tones and layered textures to shine. The walls were kept soft and warm to allow our feature elements to take center stage.
A charcoal and white wallpaper with whimsical botanical and animal motifs brought in a
playful sophistication—grounding the room in the safari story while still feeling modern.
The bed was dressed with a textured headboard woven with hints of black, white, grey, and mustard—an elegant nod to the colours of the African landscape. We brought in velvet and embroidered scatter cushions to introduce depth and subtle pops of colour, making the space inviting and warm.
We retained the existing lamp bases, which had a beautifully worn, beaten metal finish.
Paired with new oval-shaped lampshades, the lighting is soft and ambient, ideal for winding down after a long day of exploring.
This room became more than just a place to sleep. Designed with thought and layered with meaning, it’s a tribute to their passion for the wild and a warm welcome from our home to theirs.
